Long Island Soap Making Classes

 

Are you interested in soap making classes?  In learning how to make your own soap? Do you want more control over the ingredients in your soap? Or are you just the creative type and you want to make something useful with your very own hands.

 

This class will teach you

1-How to work safely with lye. We will use gloves and goggles.

2-The properties of soap making oils and why we use them. Each oil we put into the soap adds something special to it.

3-How to use an online lye calculator.

4-An understanding of what superfatting is, and what actually happens during the soap making reaction (saponification)

5-How to make a great bar of soap.  You’ll feel comfortable formulating your own soap recipe.

 

You’ll leave class with a handout that includes

1-Safety instructions (general and lye related)

2-Necessary equipment list.

3-Detailed step-by-step soap making instructions.

4-My supplier list of where to purchase ingredients.

5-10 soap recipes.

6-3 pounds of soap.

7-Curing instructions.

8-The confidence to make soap at home on your own.

I’m an HSGC certified teacher.  My Long Island soap making classes are small so you will get personalized attention while getting hands on experience.  You’ll leave this soap making class with the ability to go home and make your own soap.
