The 2018 Bubbles and Blazes conference was smoking hot this year!
This past weekend I drove to Goshen NY for the Bubbles and Blazes conference. I was there early to be a greeter. The most important part of greeting was to make sure that no one parked their car in the wrong place. I said hello to my old friends, met some new ones and set myself up to do my job.
The breakfast crew was in the kitchen cooking when it happened. The fire alarm went off. They set off the smoke alarm. We all exited to wait for the fire department and I started greeting people outside.
Once we were given the all clear, we went back into the building and were ready to get started!
So, what is the North East Bubbles and Blazes conference? It’s just what it sounds like, a conference for soap and candle makers in the north east.
This year, Cathy McGinnis from Soaping 101 was our guest speaker. She demonstrated how to make a liquid soap in (what was left of) the morning, and spoke about finding your customer in the afternoon.
I love all the soap conferences I go to, but this one is one of my favorites for a few reasons. First, it’s a small conference, there were 40 of us there. Next, I get to meet new soap makers from my area. But the real reason I love Bubbles and Blazes is the goodie bags at this conference are amazing! My haul was so heavy, filled with merchandise from companies like Jedwards, Rustic Escentuals, Mad Micas, From Nature With Love, Brambleberry, Noble Roots, and so many more I can’t list them all. It’s a soap makers dream. I still haven’t gone through the whole bag yet.
This week I’m grateful I was able to go to the conference. I’m grateful to Beth and Michelle for working so hard to put together such a lovely event. It’s nice to get to see so many friends every year, reconnect and catch up.
What are you grateful for this week?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

I would just like to clarify for anyone that may be reading that has never attended. Our attendance is usually around 70 or more. This year was definitely an exception.
Please follow us at http://nebubblesandblazes.com for information for the 2019 gathering.

Yes, there were many people who couldn’t make it this year. I’m hoping for next year’s gathering everyone will be able to make it. Thanks Michelle for adding the link for the conference!

Local conferences are great. We need to organize the Rocky Mountain Region!

This conference seems like a fun way to meet others who make their soap products. I didn’t even know those existed outside a small gathering at a craft fair or market. I’m glad you had fun during the fair.
Angela Carillo says
Before I started making soap, I had no idea these conferences existed. I always come back from conferences inspired and ready to make more soap. Thanks Lee!
