We all want our home to smell great. The problem for me is, most artificial aromas give me headaches. So buying one of those plug-in things (with the really cool names like Ocean Breeze and Kiwi Strawberry) at the grocery store is a trip down migraine hell.
I’ve got some ideas for you to keep your home smelling great naturally, without chemicals or artificial fragrances.
-Open a window and let in some fresh air. Sometimes even in the winter I’ll open a window for a short period of time, maybe 20 minutes. Fresh air always smells good.
-Place a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a cotton ball. Put the cotton ball on the floor and vacuum it up. As you vacuum, you’re house will smell great. Before vacuuming you can also sprinkle some baking soda on the rug.
-Take another cotton ball with essential oil and place one in each garbage can in your house. Especially the bathroom and the kitchen, but don’t forget the bedrooms. You can also hide a cotton ball with some essential oil in the cardboard toilet paper roll.
-Bake some cookies. Or brownies. Or a cake. Just be careful not to eat too much. 🙂
-Peel an orange or lemon and simmer the rind on low. Remember to add water occasionally so it doesn’t burn.
-Leave out a pretty glass container and fill it with coffee beans and cinnamon sticks. (Only if you live in a pet and child free home).
-Use a natural air freshener. Alegna Ambience is a spray that uses natural essential oils to freshen up your house. It’s a light fragrance, made with lavender, lemongrass, patchouli and a few other oils.
-Put some dried eucalyptus sprigs in a vase. Better yet, buy yourself some fresh flowers. You deserve it.
Do you have any tips to share to keep your home smelling great?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
