I hear that “What is the last book you read?” is a question you get asked at job interviews. I think it’s a great way to get to know someone better. I love to read and have a really varied choice in books (and music, but that’s another blog). My reading choices are something I don’t really discuss with my friends. I decided to change that.
Reading for fun
Roberta is a high energy friend of mine. She’s moving all the time and I can picture her quickly finishing one book and starting another. “Just finished The Guest Book by Sarah Blake. I listen to books on Audible and love becoming a part of the story as I listen. I had heard good things and really enjoy period pieces. This one takes place in Maine between 1936 and present day. Next up is Long Bright River by Liz Moore.”
Books can be a way of bonding with others. Christine told me ” The last book I read was The Witches Kind: a novel by Luisa Morgan.
It was a fun read and part of a series my daughter recommended.”
Jenn lives in the Adirondack High Peaks region of New York When she talks about the type of books she reads, I can picture the magic brewing in the mountains by her house. “I love reading Urban Fantasy, it’s become my favorite genre to read. Anything that contains wizards, fae and magic is right up my alley. I am currently reading the Elemental Series by Shannon Mayer. Fun stories that keep me occupied.”
Sometimes there are just so many books you want to read, and there just isn’t time to finish them all. That’s what Melissa told me. “Oh this is a good question, I can never get through a full book because I read lots of different ones all the time.” She does have a point. I can’t remember the last time I was only reading one book, I usually have a few with bookmarks in them.
Reading for business and self awareness
Marilyn reads most like I do, some fun books and some to further her knowledge of her business. “I read many crime novels – All the Devils are Here by Louise Penny. I’m also reading Calming Magic. It has rituals in it for power- clarity- creativity and I choose it for ideas and R&D for rituals.” Marilyn’s business is based on the ritual of bathing.
“A Woman Makes a Plan” is what Cae is reading. She said it’s “Advice for a lifetime of adventure, beauty and success by Maye Musk and was a gift from a dear friend“. I may need to borrow that when she’s done.
Marla says she’s reading “The Fabric of Reality by David Deutsch. It was recommended to me to blow my mind. I’ll let you know.”
And me? Right now I’m reading two different books. Well, I’m reading one and re-reading one. I’ve read the book Joshua by Joseph Girzone many times and get something different from it each time I re-read it. And I also started Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinberg. It was recommended to me by my cousin Emy.
What book are you reading?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

How wonderful! Thank you for the recommendations. I think I need to check out the period pieces above. Currently listening to The Self-Driven Child by Ned Johnson

I remember reading books like that when my kids were young Cassandra. I hope it’s helpful.
Donna Maria says
The last book I read was Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I’ve read it before, but this was a new year’s refresher. It’s a great book to help you turn over a new leaf or refresh up your morning routine.

I love rereading great books too Donna Maria. I found gel highlighters that don’t bleed and I use them (sometimes in different colors) to highlight points that speak to me.
