If you follow me on social media, you know that Brian is home from the hospital. May started off pretty scary, Brian had a subarachnoid hemorrhage and spent 8 days in the Neuro ICU. We were told to expect some bad days with headaches, and he has had some. But he is home, and we are grateful. This week I’m going back to my original Gratitude List blog.
I am grateful..
..my husband is home and the hemorrhage caused no damage. He has the same warped sense of humor and can still remember the lyrics to his favorite CCR songs. (To be fair, they are all his favorites and that’s a lot of songs). I hear him upstairs playing with his model trains and I try not to think of what could have happened.
..for the support system we have. Our family and friends went out of their way to help. Shopping for groceries, cleaning our house, wrapping soap and making deliveries for me when I couldn’t. Visiting and giving us space to heal. Cutting our lawn, bringing meals and flowers. Calling, emailing and texting to see how things were.
..the staff at both hospitals went out of their way to make an awful situation better and easy to manage. I rode in the ambulance because the driver didn’t want me to have to follow them, he could see what a wreck I was. The nurses held our hands through every step of the process. There was a couch is Brian’s room I could sleep on, and one afternoon an aide came in and covered me with a blanket. The physician assistants came in every few hours to see how he was doing. The skill of the doctors performing the angiograms, and the cleaning people who kept our room spotless, and stayed a few minutes to talk with us.
..to God for the strength to get through the past week. I could not have done it without Him/Her.
What are you grateful for this week?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

So bizarre that at the same Time that my cousin BRIAN suffered his brain bleed I suffered life-threatening pneumonia and was in the hospital for a whole week. If you were to take my picture now you would see me also seated on the recliner resting. And so happy to be home. My experience praise God was similar to what ANGELA experienced as far as friends and family coming forward to help me get through this. The hospital staff was excellent and treated me with love and care. I am grateful for the peace that God rained down on me during this terribly difficult time on oxygen and nonstop antibiotics. Had my first alone night last night and slept like a log and I’m now enjoying this beautiful sunny day. Special thanks to my sister who gave up everything to be here with me and manage my care. To my sons Nate and BEN who checked in physically many times to my daughter-in-law DAWN who made sure that the medical part was managed and to friends and family who prayed nonstop thank you

There’s something so comforting about sitting in a recliner. And about family and friends who help us when we are in need. I’m so glad you are healing as well as Brian. Take it slow and get lots of rest. Hugs.

We had so much good come from this experience Roberta. It’s wonderful to have him home and just sit together. I won’t take it for granted again.
