You indulged in your favorite guilty pleasure, and now you need to find a place to store your treasures. Where is the best place to store your handcrafted soap? You want someplace cool and dry so your soap continues to get hard. Remember, the harder the bar, the longer your soap will last. Since you spent your hard earned money on my soap, I want to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
Your Underwear Drawer
I keep a few bars in organza bags in my underwear drawer. This is my number one place to store soap. Why? I open my underwear drawer every day, so every day I’m treated to the lovely aroma. An added bonus, my underwear smells great! Really, any drawer in your dresser will work. Sweater, pants, whatever. Pick your favorite.
Linen Closet
I asked my customers where they keep their soap and the linen closet was the number one spot. It’s probably right off your bathroom, so it’s close by if you need to grab a bar. It’s cool, dry and makes your towels and sheets smell so nice.
Cardboard Box 0r Basket in your Closet
Another great place for soap storage is your bedroom closet. If you have a big fancy closet, you can get creative and put them in a basket on a shelf. If you closet looks more like mine, put them in a cardboard shoe box on the floor. Why the floor? Same reason you should put your perfume on your ankles, not your wrists. Scent travels in an upward motion.
Although your bathroom is a convenient place to store soap, it’s not the best place for your soap long term. It’s damp, hot (think steamy showers), and doesn’t allow the soap to “breathe”. Maybe leave one wrapped bar in the bathroom, the next one you plan to use. And wherever you store them, make sure to rotate your stock and use the oldest bar first.
Where do you store your handcrafted soap?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

In a cardboard box under the bathroom sink. Not optimal but so handy.

Emy, leave one or two in the bathroom, and try storing some in your dresser drawer. I promise your clothes will smell great! 🙂
