I asked Brian to design a soap to celebrate his birthday. He said, “It’s gotta be a St. Patrick’s Day soap.”
Brian’s birthday is March 18th. His mom’s family was Irish, (he gets the Puerto Rican from his dad), and the weekend after his birthday, they would have the family party. Since it was close to St. Patty’s Day, they would have corned beef and cabbage. Brian hates corned beef and cabbage. I mean, he Hates corned beef and cabbage, can’t stand the smell and doesn’t even want to hear that I’d like to occasionally eat it myself.
His grandmother knew how much he hated that meal. So she did what all good grandmothers do. She would make fried chicken just for him. And a chocolate cake with green icing.
Those memories are so precious. I never met his grandmother, she died a year or two before we met. But I love that she made him his favorite meal for his birthday celebration.
Brian helped me make this soap and cut this soap on a Facebook Live. He decided on two different color greens and some white for accent. Brian loves crushed apricot seeds, so we added some of those too.
He asked for some help with the scent. What does a St. Patrick’s Day soap smell like? He wanted something woody, and I agreed that it went with the green color. We started with a base of Fir Needle and added Cedarwood and Patchouli. The blend needed something to brighten it up, so I reached for Bergamot.
The bars are a large 7 ounces. (Brian says that he and St Patrick are manly men)
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
