I remember the first time I ever saw soap on a rope. My parents had taken us to Gettysburg Pennsylvania for vacation and I was in the souvenir shop. At the end of our trip, my parents let us pick out one item. And I always bought soap. Always.
It wasn’t a handcrafted soap, it was a mass produced soap on a rope, but I fell in love with it. What a novel idea!
On my January 4th Facebook Live, I made my first Soap on a Rope. The soap was cut on January 5th.
I carefully marked where I’d be cutting the bars so I knew where to place the rope. I tied a knot at the end of the soap, and placed it between the lines.
It’s a rustic looking soap, so I decided it needed a rustic kind of scent. Lavender with rosemary. I added oatmeal and rosemary to the body of the soap to help it get thick and hold the soap in place. Triple butters in this soap. Olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, shea butter, mango butter and cocoa butter.
The result is an old fashioned, homespun looking soap bar with plenty of aroma and botanicals. It’s a large soap, 6 ounces, so I think Brian will like it. It smells country-like, simple and clean. This soap is a keeper.
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
