It’s been 24 hours and it’s time to do some soap cutting.
Getting the soap out of the box for cutting is easy. I take off the tape…
…turn the box upside down….
…and out drops the block of soap.
Check it out! Brian calls this an bar of soap for an elephant lol.
Now it’s time to trim the soap. I take a knife and trim the edges. It makes the soap look “cleaner” to me.
Do you know what I use the soap scraps for??
I use it to make Soap for Soup. The money from this soap gets donated to a food pantry that helped a friend of mine many years ago.
This block of soap gets cut into three logs. Log one…
..log two…
…and log three.
Each soap log gets cut into 11 bars.
I pick them up off the soap cutter…
..and put them in the curing drawer my dad made for me. He put a screen on the bottom so air can easily circulate around each soap bar. This helps my soaps cure better. Can you see the date on this soap batch? I made this one on January 15th, 2024. It’ll be cured in 4 weeks. That how I keep track of when my soaps are done curing.
Finally, my the soap drawer in placed into the curing rack. Yup, my dad made these for me too.
As you can see, I get pretty excited about soap. I can talk about it for hours. Is there anything you want to know that I missed? Let me know in the comments.
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
