Sea Moss Soap

A private label customer asked me to create a soap with sea moss. I know a few people who make a gel of it to eat for the health benefits, but had never heard of putting it in skincare products. She was excited about the benefits sea moss has in skincare. She showed me some research she’d done and I got a little excited with her. I made her soap and tried a bar. Right then I knew I needed to make a batch for customers.

First of all, what is sea moss? It’s a sea vegetable similar to seaweed and algae. I asked around and found another soap maker friend (Thank you La Shonda!) who told me where she sourced hers. It needs to be reconstituted first, it comes dehydrated, and is full of minerals and other good things.

I had to find the right essential oils for my batch. I wanted a soap that was good for your whole body, but that was also great for your face. Carrot seed essential oil is great for your skin, so is Egyptian geranium essential oil.

It glides over your skin like silk, and has a rich texture.
