This past Monday I had the incredible good fortune to meet Paul Andersen. Paul has been teaching high school science for 19 years and started the BozemanScience website 3 years ago. His videos have become immensely popular on YouTube with both students and teachers. (My personal favorite video is A Tour of the Cell). He was presenting what I thought would be a talk on some subject in science. Instead, I listened to him speak about what he called Lessons of a Lifetime. At one point he spoke of 5 F’s and how they applied to learning. I quickly realized I could apply these F’s to Alegna Soap.
Fail
The first F is Fail. You are going to fail. Get used to it. The only way to get good at something is to do it, re-do it, and then do it again. You will fail before you will ever get better.
Focus
The next F is Focus. When learning something new you need to be there. 110 percent. Turn off the smart phone, Facebook, Twitter, whatever your vice is. Find a quiet place where there is nothing to distract you. Give yourself time, settle in and get to work.
Flow
Third is Flow. You probably don’t need to expend the same amount of energy each day. Learn the flow of your business. Delay gratification and crank up the effort during difficult times. Get that hard part over with so it’s not hanging over your head.
Fight
F number 4 is Fight. Get yourself into a fighting spirit for what you want. You need to step out of your comfort zone and go after your prize. Don’t sit back on the sidelines, thinking, analyzing, discussing. Get out there and do it.
Friends
Finally, the last F is Friends. Find like-minded people to help you learn and support you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Thank you to Paul Andersen, for reminding me there is nothing wrong with failure, to focus and fight for what I want, and to lean on my friends. And thanks for taking a picture with me picture too!
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
