Everyone’s started shopping, and that includes me. I’ve started to think about my favorite gifts from Long Island makers.
Great South Bay Candles
My friend Theresa owns Great South Bay Candles. It takes me a while to find a candle that doesn’t give me a migraine, and her Wintery Evergreen is one of those candles. Wintry Evergreen fragrance is reminiscent of walking thru a forest of winter pine trees. It’s clean, crisp and refreshing. Has mild citrus notes, earthy undertones and base note of balsam. Perfect for setting a festive holiday mood or a quiet winters evening by the fire. I smell lots of fir needle and earth. It’s a staple of mine for Christmas.
Ivy Cottage Gifts
I met Sharon at a craft fair years ago, and commissioned her to paint soap dishes for me. Ivy Cottage Art gifts is a gallery of unique hand-painted quality art on glassware and frames with one of a kind designs. Sharon says “My purpose is to add value and beauty to the world through my art. I create each unique and handpainted design from the heart with attention and care for my customers.” All I have to say is her work is beautiful and one of a kind.
Scrubz
I love sugar scrubs, but I stopped selling them on my website so I can focus more on soap. My “biz babe BFF” Roberta, owns Scrubz in Farmingdale town. Her Lavender Sugar Scrub is made with lavender essential oil and I love it. Can a sugar scrub literally transport you? It can when it’s lavender! Imagine driving down a long stretch of highway on the way to Bryce Canyon, when all of a sudden your nose and your eyes get a fragrant, beautiful delight. Fields and fields of lavender are before you and it is as purple and beautiful as you ever imagined. Everyday stress just seems to melt away. It really is fascinating how a scent can change your entire mood. While this sugar scrub makes your skin supple, soft, cleansed, and moisturized, it also transports your senses. Ahhhhh…
LocaLI Bred
This box is everything Long Island. Halie and Theresa are members of a networking group I belong to. They have a few different boxes, but the Deluxe Long Island Snack Gift Box is my favorite because it gives back. For each box purchased locaLI bred will donate a snack pack in support of Island Harvest’s Kids Backpack Feeding Program. Who minds the calories when you know you’re helping to fill a child’s backpack?
Alegna Soap
Of course I’m gonna mention my soaps! My personal favorite is Lavender Lemongrass, but Anise Orange is a close second. Peppermint Scrub is a fan favorite and my best seller. And you can never go wrong with Soap for Soup, where I donate the money to a local food pantry.
Did I give you enough ideas for your holiday list? What do you think of my top five gifts from Long Island makers. Which is your favorite?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
