Made on Long Island
Last night I was sitting on my couch responding to emails as Brian watched an episode of “Air Disasters” on TV. We had an activity filled weekend. I was tired, and looking forward to finishing up with business and making him change the channel. (If you’ve ever watched Air Disasters you will understand what I mean.) I was almost done when another email popped up. It was a Google Alert on Alegna Soap®. Somehow, I had been included in the Long Island Press blog “A Guide to 11 Gifts Made on Long Island“. Brian jumped a few feet in the air when I told him. He says it was my scream, but I say it was Air Disasters…
They talked about my soaps and other products, and spoke of my classes. It felt absolutely wonderful to read. I don’t know how they found me, I don’t know anyone who works there and I don’t know the author of the blog. I don’t know any of the other small businesses listed in the blog. I love living here and I am proud that my products are made on Long Island. I like to mention it when I’m at an event selling my soaps. People are surprised that everything I sell is something I’ve made myself.
If you want to shop local and buy something made on Long Island, check out the blog. You can find candles, aromatherapy products, beer and wine websites, some really cute cocoon swaddles, dog treats, a gluten-free bakery and a few other websites.
Gratitude
Who would think to be grateful for Google Alert, but I am. I’m not sure I would have ever known if I hadn’t gotten that email. And I’m grateful for however it happened in the universe that Alegna Soap® was chosen to be featured. It was such a nice surprise.
What are you grateful for this week?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
