Many people have asked me how I chose the name Alegna Soap® for my company. I had pretty much decided on the name “Vintage Soap” originally. I’ve always loved old things and wanted the name to reflect something about me. I wasn’t truly happy with the name though. I asked friends and family for ideas and was hitting brick walls. Things were moving quickly and I needed to make decisions. I purchased the website Vintage Soap, and had some labels printed, but I still wasn’t committed to it.
I met Patty years ago when she was married to my brother-in-law. When they divorced, we remained close. Patty has a keen business mind and a great sense of humor. We were chatting back and forth in an email and I was telling her my dilemma. She said “What about Alegna Soap®?”. I was thinking to myself, “What is an Alegna?”. Finally I asked and she said “It’s your name backwards you silly girl! I mean, if it worked for Oprah…”
And that was it. The name felt right. I quickly bought the website and started the paperwork to trademark the name.
Thank you Patty for thinking outside the box and thinking of a name that has the feeling I was looking for. Alegna Soap® fits me so well, I can’t imagine choosing any other name for my soap company. I’m grateful you’re still in my life. You make me laugh and I appreciate your advice. I love telling people the story of how I chose the name Alegna Soap®, because it reminds me of you each time I do.
What are you grateful for this week?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela

Emy you are one of my role models. I love how you are able to keep those friendships. I’m sure it means a lot to them too.
