I don’t like making New Year resolutions. A resolution implies that I need to do something better. I’d rather focus on my accomplishments during the past year. Seeing how much I’ve done puts me in a better mood. It’s also a more positive way to look at things and gets me motivated to continue to grow.
1- I spoke at two conferences in 2018, the Handmade Conference in Ohio and the Tennessee Soap and Candle Social. For someone who has anxiety issues, speaking in public is a big deal. I was nervous, but did it anyway. I’m giving myself a huge pat on the back for this one.
2- I taught some new classes in NYC, an Essential Oil Blending class, and Body Butter, Scrub and Balm class. I want to do them on Long Island next year, so keep your eyes open.
3- I think of my soaps as my friends, and this year, I worked with Diane Dobry to write their stories. I gave Diane the name and personality of each soap, and she was able to bring them to life so much better than I could. You can read about Zowie, Candi, Victoria, Cheyenne, Francesca and Jane. We have a few of my Limited Edition soaps done and have more to do.
4- I’ve done a few more collaborations with other Long Island makers. My latest is with Justine Moody. I’m working with a craft beer shop to make beer soap too. You’ll be hearing more about that soon.
5- I’m forgiving my self quicker and saying no more often. I’m better at being gentle with myself. I figure I shouldn’t expect any more of myself than I would of someone else.
What are your accomplishments from 2018?
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
