Please indulge me today. I took a break from soap making last weekend to visit my daughter in Virginia. We try to go down and visit once a month. This trip was pretty special, because our son, and his son came with us. That meant both of our grandsons were together. They are both 3, Luke born in January and Brian in May.
Luke and Brian don’t get to see each other that often, so we didn’t know how they would interact. The last time they were together, they parallel played with little interaction. They were a little shy at first, but their bowls filled with sprinkles helped break the ice (Who needs ice cream, the sprinkles are the best part!)
Both boys call me Gigi, and Bri is Poppy.
We went for swing rides and wagon rides.
The boys played pinball games together.
And they played with Brian’s toys together. (My daughter was smart and put away all of Brian’s favorites)
Grand-parenthood is all it’s cracked up to me. There isn’t much that can pull me away from soap and make me take a break. Those two kids are at the top of the list. I love how excited they get when they first see us. Both their faces light up with love. They crack me up too. “You’re so silly Gigi” Luke says when I mix up the names of the Rescue Bots. Brian laughs all the time and it’s infectious. He has the best smile.
It was almost impossible to get them both to sit and look at my phone at the same time for pictures. They were off running and exploring and checking each other out. I’m grateful for both of them and that we had the time together. I’m back in my soap studio, and I miss them.
Yours in Gratitude,
Angela
