Soap for Soup came about as my way of giving back. Years ago, my girlfriends husband walked out, taking their only car and wiping out their bank accounts. He left her with 2 kids under the age of 5, no job and no financial assistance. I contacted a local food pantry and they were able to help her until she was able to get back on her feet. When I started Alegna Soap®, I knew I wanted to give back and decided to raise money for local Long Island food pantries in honor of my friend.
Each one of these soaps look and smell different. They are special soaps, made from the last bit of soap in my soap pot. When purchased we will choose which soap you receive. Made with organic olive, coconut, palm oils and organic shea butter. May contain castor oil, essential oils, fragrance oils, and assorted botanicals. They weigh between 3 and 4 ounces. All of the money made from these soaps will be given to a local food pantry. That means for each soap you purchase, $6 will be given away. With each gift box purchased, $15 will be donated.
Soap for Soup
I stood with the phone in my hand, waiting for the guts to make the phone call. What if she’s angry with me? I thought again of her with those two babies and dialed.
She wasn’t angry with me at all, instead she was filled with gratitude. It was many years ago when my girlfriend’s husband walked out on her and their two children. She had no money, no job and no car. The call I made was to my church. They had sent a flyer home asking for donations for the food pantry. All I could think of was my friend and how she needed this. I made the call and someone from the St Vincent de Paul society reached out to my friend.
The food pantry is open to all who reside within parish boundaries regardless of religion and is staffed with volunteers.
