I had to text my friend Marilyn and ask where we first met. For the life of me I couldn’t remember.  Turns out, she has a better memory than I do. We both took a soap class with our friend Marla many years ago.

My girlfriend Marilyn has a company called Ritual waters.  Since I like to support my friends, I purchased her Spring Box. When my box arrived, my friend had added some goodies to it. Inside was a really cool looking soap.

It had lots of different layers divided by mica lines. There was a lot going on in the soap, but it worked because of the colors. They brought it all together.

I decided to try my hand at a multi-layer soap.

Deciding to challenge myself, I did this soap on a Facebook Live. Scented with lavender, lemon and anise, and colored with pink, gold, teal and purple, I needed a chart to keep track of what I had to do when. Since I made one batch of soap, it got a little thicker than I wanted at the end. I made gold mica lines between the layers and kept my fingers crossed.  It took me 27 minutes to make this soap and about 2 hours to clean up.

You can see the Live of the day this soap was cut here.  I wasn’t 100% happy with it and decided to try again.

This time, I set up 4 different smaller batches on a Facebook Live. That was, the soap batter wouldn’t get thick.  It did though, take me 45 minutes to make, and the same 2 hours to clean up. I used some of the same colors, gold, pink and teal, but added purple and a gorgeous green.  I used activated charcoal for the black mica line. It’s scented with lavender, patchouli and grapefruit.

This time I love the cut!
